Liberation... y el Paredón

About:

Based on an idea by Fernando Leza, Liberation... y el Paredón explores the struggle against oppressive and controlling influences, be it addiction, phobia, or a sadistic and authoritarian political regime.

During and in the years after the Cuban Revolution, approximately 500 were executed at el paredon under the orders of men such as Ernesto 'Che' Guevara.

Escaping oppression or addiction can feel like pulling yourself out of a deep and muddy hole. You weaken as you frantically scramble, exhaustion takes over, and you are pulled back into the mire of internal struggle. You cannot crawl away from such a foe - you must gather the strength to walk away on your own two feet.

The video is comprised of 437 hand-drawn stills. After an initial debut in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Houston, Texas, the original files of this video were stolen and destroyed after the artist took flight from a dismal situation. A new version was re-animated in 2009, and saw the addition of three new musical tracks by Jessica Leza: two hands, afraid while mother is sleeping, and neurotoxin.
