Seduction in the Sterilization Room

About:

We live with a culture in which women's bodies are deemed fit for public consumption and sold along side toilet paper and high fructose corn snacks. My background in photography and several years working with promotional marketing companies regularly brought me in touch with the cold reality that the flesh of young women is regularly divorced from their inherent humanity in order to increase the profit margin for another quarter. There are many things that trouble me about this particular bent in the status quo, although I would not claim a solution or even full understanding of the implications. This is a wondering study of commercial flesh - a mixed media stop motion that includes thousands of animated cut outs from pornographic magazines, as well as self-released videos from women dancing online.

It's a strange fact that many of these materials use racial stereotypes to further sales.

In the first half of the 20th century, eugenics programs in countries around the world sterilized many people against their will. The music for this video originated as a study in compulsory sterilization, and the possibility that a doctor charged with the task may instead fall in love with a "genetically inferior" woman.
